The poster will be a more rigorous session than past conferences, where preceptor groups will be assigned to perform “walk rounds” for each poster. Residents should expect to provide a 5-7-minute overview of their poster for the rounding team and answer 1 to 2 questions. If the slide presentation slots fill up, you are welcome to choose to present a poster instead, even if you are a PGY1.

For the Posters:

General Information

  • Poster sessions will take place throughout the conference, May 14-15th.
  • Poster set-up begins at 9am on May 14th and 8am on May 15th.  
  • Poster Review Rounds will be during the scheduled sessions
  • Poster mounting boards are 4’ x 8’

Poster Review Rounds

  • Posters will be arranged in groups, based on practice area. 
  • Poster Review Rounds consists of each resident presenting a 5-7 minute overview of their poster to the moderator, evaluator and other residents in their group. 
  • At the end of each presentation, each group member will complete an evaluation form. 
  • Research preceptor or RPD of each resident presenting are welcome. 

Formatting guidelines for posters

  • Objective(s)/purpose of the study or project
  • Methods used in the study or project
  • Results of the study or project
  • Conclusions/evaluation of the study or project

Posters will be evaluated on the following:

  • Visual:  Is overall appearance of poster professional? Does content support (or detract) from poster?  Are data clear, succinct, and understandable?
  • Methods:  How well does design of the study address the research question? Are statistics appropriate?
  • Results:  Are results adequately expressed? Are tables/figures fully utilized to represent data?
  • Conclusion:  How well are conclusions supported by study results?
  • Presentation:  Does resident convey mastery of content? Provoke thoughtful questions?
    Impact:  How novel is this research? Relevance to pharmacy practice or area of study?

Poster Competition

  • Residents have the option to be considered for the Poster Competition when registering for the conference
  • Abstracts of those that opt-in to the competition will be reviewed, and 5 posters will be selected for the competition
  • Those selected for the competition will be notified when they arrive to Poster Review Rounds
  • Posters selected for the competition will be displayed in a separate competition group with Poster Judges
  • Residents selected for the competition will still provide a 5-7 minute overview of their poster
  • The winner of the competition will be announced at the end of the last poster session of the conference.
